Light Trails

Ever since i learnt how to shoot light trails i have kept wanting to shoot more and more. It's great fun to do on your own or with a friend! I find messing around with torches fun, mixing colours and drawing pictures in the dark, but i also like shooting moving vehicles and capturing the light trails of the car lights. Unfortunately, where i live, there aren't many busy roads in walking distance, so the last time i went out to shoot car light trails, i waited about 2 hours and only managed to get about 5 pictures... So, in hopes of shooting some more very soon, this is my page of light trails...

Here are two 'final pieces' where i have shot the light trail, edited any background light out, and then edited the colours. In these two pictures i went for a creative rainbow effect against the dark black.

Experimenting with torches.
In these trails i used a white torch which had five small bulbs in a row (which shot the above trail), and light stick, which looks similar to one of those lightsaber's they use in Star Wars, and a green sonic screwdriver that belongs to my brother. And the fact is, each one of those did the job fine! Yes, they weren't all proper torches or professional lights, but it still worked, which i was pleased with.

Because some of these images are uploaded straight from my camera, i haven't edited out the light you can see in the background, which is coming from my neighbours house. The fact is, i tried waiting up until they went to bed, but i swear they're nocturnal.

 Experimenting with car lights.
I realise these images aren't great, but i was just playing around. i made good use of our extremely quiet road too. Here's a few pictures of some car headlights, which gives a basic idea of the light trails they create. I would ideally love to stand on top of a bridge at night, on a very busy road, an shoot some proper ones, with the fantastic effects of the car lights! But, we'l just have to wait and see.
